Initial Consultation
I undertake a free 25 minute telephone consultation with all potential clients, for us to explore what you need and expect from therapy and to decide if the way I work is suitable for you.
Initial Consultation – Adults
The focus of this consultation is to get some basic information about you and for you to tell me about yourself, and what has brought you to counselling. I will also talk about my approach and answer any questions you may have about how I work.
It is an opportunity for you to explore whether or not you think I am the right counsellor for you, as well as giving me the chance to ensure that I feel confident I can offer you what you want and need from a counsellor. There is no pressure to commit to working with me at the end of the consultation. You may feel ready to proceed to book in future sessions, or you may decide a different style of counselling may suit your need better. It is totally your decision.
Initial Consultation – Teenagers
For clients age 18 or younger, my initial consultation will need to be with a parent/guardian. This consultation will be for 25 minutes and will provide an opportunity for you to give me some basic information about why your child is seeking counselling, and to discuss whether I may be able to help. I would explain my approach and answer any questions you may have about how I will work with your child. Following this call, if you are happy to proceed I would then arrange your child’s first counselling session, working out how this will happen so that your child feels comfortable.
Location
I offer counselling from a dedicated room at my home, in a quiet road in Thame, South Oxfordshire. It is easily accessible by bus, there is always parking available and there are toilet facilities provided. Access to the room is up two steps and unfortunately currently unsuitable for wheelchair users.
I have followed government guidance and implemented Covid-19 safety procedures. The room offers a well ventilated space to meet. I ensure that the toilet facilities are thoroughly cleaned prior to each client arriving. Hand Sanitiser is available. I am happy to wear a mask or face shield when we meet and we can determine what you prefer at the start of working together.
